Come listen to some of these influencers share their stories of being visible online advocates for queer lit, loving stories out loud, and how to leverage social media for good.

Panel 2: Hope at the End of the World: Crafting Queer Speculative and Dystopian Fiction

Description: There is a long and rich history that runs through Octavia Butler, Samuel Delaney, and Ursula K. Le Guin of authors exploring queerness through the lens of Speculative and Dystopian fiction. Using your art to critique society, explore what it means to exercise freedom and choice in the face of oppressive control, and explore what it means to be an individual when forced into conformity is increasingly important as authoritarianism rises all over the world. But what does it takes to write these stories? How can we talk about the worst without losing hope or giving into nihilism? What is it about speculative and dystopian fiction that is so uniquely suited to exploring queerness? Here we will get into all those questions and more as we explore the art of crafting queer and dystopian fiction.
